THE STORY

Don’t buy the mileage.
Buy the maintenance.

This German-market 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 coupé was originally sold as a Werksauslieferung, collected at the factory in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen by its first owner, and serviced by Porsche Zentrum Seestern and Porsche Zentrum Düsseldorf from 1990 through 1997. Every owner since is known. Every service documented.

The car later passed through the hands of Jurriën Schilder, of the well-known Schilder family in the Netherlands, a name that carries weight in the Dutch automotive world. I acquired it in 2020 through Triple & Crown, a Porsche specialist, after it received a thorough pre-purchase inspection by Porsche Classic Center Gelderland, the world's largest Porsche Classic Center owned by Mark Wegh.

They confirmed what I had hoped: the car was in exceptionally good technical condition. A detailed list of advisory points was provided. All items were subsequently addressed.

That is why I bought it. Not for the colour, not for the mileage, but for the mechanical health. There are too many 964s that were barely driven and fell apart from neglect. This one was used as it was meant to be: driven regularly, maintained obsessively.

With a family of five, I simply do not get to drive it enough. It deserves an owner who will.
International buyers are welcome. I’m happy to assist with logistics, export documentation, and coordination with shipping companies. The car is currently registered in Belgium with a valid technical inspection and can be exported to any EU or non-EU destination.

EXTERIOR

Finished in the rare Linen Grey Metallic (L550), one of the most elegant and understated shades offered on the 964. The car was professionally repainted in its original colour prior to my ownership, with all necessary disassembly carried out and all shut lines properly aligned.

It wears 17-inch Cup wheels wrapped in 205/50 front and 255/40 rear Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres, paired with Cup mirrors. The clean rear profile is accentuated by the factory absence of a rear wiper; this car was delivered without one.

Minor stone chips on the front lip and light marks on the rear bumper are consistent with 35 years and 207,000 kilometres of honest use. All lighting, including headlights (NOS Bosch H4), fog lights, indicators, and rear light units, has been renewed with genuine Porsche parts. All original units accompany the sale.

INTERIOR

The interior is trimmed in black leather with colour-coordinated dashboard and door panels. The front Turbo/Sport seats (as originally specified) were sourced from Speed Service in the Netherlands and recently professionally restored by Blinkt BV, a certified auto detailing specialist. The result is seats that look and feel as they should.

The factory steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer with a 6,800 rpm redline, a 300 km/h speedometer, a quartz analogue clock, and gauges for oil level, oil pressure, oil temperature, and fuel level.

Amenities include functional heated seats, electric windows, air conditioning (condenser, receiver drier, and O-rings replaced and recharged with R134a in 2021, still cooling perfectly), original floor mats, and a Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB stereo with Bluetooth, linked to Hertz DCX and Audison Prima speakers. The car was originally delivered with a Blaupunkt Bremen in 1990, so this is a period-correct upgrade that maintains the original look.

MECHANICAL

The engine doesn’t leak oil.
On a 964, that’s extraordinary.

The air-cooled 3.6-litre M64 flat-six was removed in 2018 and received a top-end overhaul by Wisman Autobedrijf for Porsche specialist Wolbert Porsche. Cylinder heads were rebuilt, and the complete top end was overhauled. The result: the engine starts immediately, idles smoothly, and notably for a 964, shows no oil leaks.

Power is sent to all four wheels through the original five-speed manual transaxle (G64/00) with the standard 964 C4 all-wheel-drive system, including a viscous-coupling centre differential. Both the engine and transaxle are matching numbers to the chassis.

Oil was changed annually with Motul 300V Competition 15W-50. The engine mounts have been upgraded to 993 C4S items for improved refinement. The suspension was replaced with Bilstein B6 sport dampers and H&R springs, professionally fitted by JC Motors (Belgium), including new wishbone bushings, anti-roll bar bushings, and a full alignment. Braided stainless-steel brake lines (Goodridge) are fitted throughout. Brake rotors, pads, and wear sensors were replaced in 2020 and 2021 (front and rear respectively), along with wheel bearings (2021).

A performance chip (RS-type mapping with improved torque delivery, flywheel correction, and tighter idle) was installed in 2021. The exhaust runs through a Dansk 100-cell sport catalytic converter into a cup pipe. An oil cooler modification ensures the cooling fan engages earlier, keeping oil temperatures optimal and oil pressure consistently above 1 bar. A solid-state DME relay by Focus 9 Technology replaces the failure-prone original. A FIA-compliant kill switch is fitted for safety and storage convenience.

The rear spoiler control unit was fully overhauled and tested by Tore Bergvill (Bergvill F/X, Norway). Windshield wipers are 993 items (dual-spring type, superior function). A T-LED 964 LED kit by Bergvill F/X improves lighting throughout, except for the headlights which remain H4 halogen (NOS Bosch units, installed 2021).
All modifications were researched extensively through the Rennlist 964 community and selected for reliability and driver enjoyment, not outright power.

HISTORY & PROVENANCE

Every owner known.
Every service documented.

The car was originally delivered at the Porsche factory in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen (Werksauslieferung!) and first registered in Germany. Service records document care by Porsche Zentrum Seestern and Porsche Zentrum Düsseldorf from delivery through 1997. A complete ownership chain from the original German buyer to the present day is documented.

Prior to my purchase in 2020, the car was inspected by Porsche Classic Center Gelderland, the world's largest Porsche Classic Center. Their inspection confirmed the car’s excellent technical condition.

Approximately 15.000 km were added under my ownership. The Belgian technical inspection (keuring) is current.

CONDITION NOTES

In the interest of full transparency.

This is a true "driver’s car" for the Porsche enthusiast. While the odometer shows 207k km, the car is mechanically sorted and has been maintained to a very high standard. To prepare the car for sale, it recently underwent a professional 2-day "Concours Wash" to deeply clean the vehicle and showcase its genuine condition.
Exterior:
  • Stone chips and minor marks are visible on the front lip, frunk, the rear bumper, and notably on the right rear flank/wheel arch (only stone chips). These signs of use are clearly documented in the photography.
  • Very minor cosmetic paint bubbling on the rear quarter window frames. The surrounding bodywork remains solid. These are cosmetic and typical for the 964 model.
  • The front trunk lid struts are weakening and will need replacement in the near term. Depending on the ambient temperature, they currently remain open.
Interior:
  • The interior shows character consistent with its age and mileage. A small surface crack is present on the driver's side door trim where the elbow rests, a piece of honest cosmetic patina.
None of these items affect the mechanical integrity, safety, or the superb drivability of this Carrera 4. Detailed photos of all these areas are included in the gallery, and additional photos or videos are available upon request.
